data of 2019

On April 6, 2019, Eider Arevalo from Colombia and Shenjie Qieyang won the IAAF March Challenge in Rio Maior.

In 2019 the 28th Rio Grande International Grand Prix in March, integrating in the main category of the IAAF Challenge, had again the dispute in our city of a very high level competition, with the presence of many of the best athletes competing in the walking tests internationally.

With cold weather and strong wind that hindered the athletes' performance, the 20km events had both men and women winners who had already won twice in Rio Maior, in this case the Chinese Shenjie Qieyang who had already won in 2016 and 2018 and the Colombian Eider Arevalo who won here in 2015 and 2017.

The participation of the Portuguese athletes was much more discreet this year, with Inês Henriques and Ana Cabecinha presenting themselves in poor condition and in the men the best Portuguese was Rio Vieira João Vieira, representing Sporting and who had a good performance, standing out if Miguel Rodrigues of Benfica.
